Editorial Reviews
Product Description In this series for the intermediate guitarist, John Fahey teaches a wide variety of instrumental solos. Critics have called John's style American Primitive Guitar. The book includes tablature and notation with three compact discs featuring note-by-note, phrase-by-phrase instruction. LESSON ONE: A general discussion of pattern picking and the use of the alternate bass. In Christ There Is No East Or West, Take A Look At That Baby and Some Summer Day. LESSON TWO: One of John's most requested multi-sectioned composition is Indian Pacific Railroad Blues, also known as Beverley. This tune demonstrates how John composes in the fingerpicking idiom. Also taught is another very requested and imitated instrumental, John's The Last Steam Engine Train. LESSON THREE: When The Springtime Comes Again and The Approaching Of The Disco Void. A discussion of improvisational ideas in relationship to fingerstyle compositions concludes this lesson.

Customer Reviews good buy if you love fahey September 13, 2007 Ryan McWilliams 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
this is a pretty good buy. the tabs were alittle different than what i was use to but you can figure the system out pretty quick. haven't had the book very long now put have learned son of the songs with relative eaze. the right up about fahey is interesting and hearing him talk on the audio is cool learn some interesting things about the man. fahey himself is not to great at teaching of maybe i'm not to great at listenig the tabs and song track helped me out way more than any of his explainations.
Fahey's Genius March 19, 2006 Kevin C. Kozak 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you enjoy John Fahey's music and want to learn a few of his songs I highly suggest you buy this book. Take a look at the baby is a song structured around simple chords, but is not easy to learn. Once you get his playing style down the songs become easier to learn and are very enjoyable to play. Buy this book and enjoy the genius of John Fahey.
