Customer Reviews Worth it January 3, 2009 L. Peterson
After reading numerous reviews on all the ant farms out there, I decided on this green Antworks farm. I'm so glad I did! I picked the color green because it is my son's favorite color-got it for our 9 year old son for Christmas and after only 5 days, the ants have connected some tunnels and are very active. We keep it on our kitchen counter because everyone in the household is interested in watching them. The LED light is great and makes it easier to see the activity and the ants-I would definitely recommend it even though it cost more for the light. I ordered the ants through Antsalive-they had an option for the ants to arrive a little before Christmas or a little after. I picked after and they arrived just 3 or 4 days after Christmas in a tube, all alive. It has been a great, educational experience. It is smaller than the large sand antfarm my brothers had when I was growing up. But I really like the gel instead of sand and my son doesn't know the difference. He is so proud of it and likes to show it off-he thinks it is "so cool!". It has more of a curved futuristic look to it, you can see the ants from all sides and through the top. I would like to get the Antworks multiple farms that connect together, now that I know first hand how great a product it is.
Great gift for 2 and over! May 24, 2008 D. Runswick (Hailey, Idaho) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I got htis for my 2 year old girl who was facinated by ants outside. The gel is perfect since they can drop the ants and all is well. The top is secure and they can get it off )at least the little kids). She has dropped it really hard and it cracked but only visibly, you cant feel the crack and the unit is still just fine. She loves to carry it around with her and watches it constantly. Perfect gift!!! I ordered from life studies.com and ordered the ants for $5 at the same time, they came very quickly and all alive. I think if you ordered separately it would take forever and the kids would have to wait. They start tunneling within a day or so and is really cool to watch.
