This light is waaay too bright to use this for a night-light. At night, the blue light coming from her room is visible from the street with the blinds closed! We let her turn it on during the day or for nap time. It's probably on 8-12hrs/week, for almost a year, and no problems with the bulb yet. There's a little squeaky noise coming from the turning belt, but it's not too noticeable.

We got this for a gift when my daughter was born. It was on almost constantly for 7 months before the bulb blew. She LOVED it, and would stare at it every night while getting ready to go to bed. When we opened it up we found a bizarre bulb and it's obvious that it's not meant to be replaced. We will look anyway, or buy a new one because she liked it so much. The fish images are nice and bright, and it made a perfect addition to her room. I just wish we could buy replacement bulbs.

I bought this for my four-year-old daughter and she loved it. It helped her go to sleep every night. We would leave it on for 2-3 hours each night. It lasted maybe 2 months. My handy husband took it apart but couldn't fix it. It's very cheaply made. But my daughter begs me to get another one just like it. I'll be shopping around to try to find a better quality version.
