I am really pleased with this mailbox. It is sturdier than I expected it to be and it will hold a good deal of mail including large/oversized magazines (the slot is large enough that large pieces do not have to be folded to insert). Keep in mind when choosing black that dust/dirt will show easily.

The mailbox is a good as far as its looks and it's function of having a large inbox slot, but when it rains the mail gets wet. This poses a problem of having return envelopes (to send back bill payments)adhevsive getting stuck, thus making them unusable. It also becomes a hassle when a newspaper or magazine gets wet, and becomes unreadable. Buy one with a better seal, or make sure its not exposed to the elements.

I'd seen this mailbox before in different finishes. My house is a mid-century ranch that needs major updating. Although there's way more work to do on the house, just mounting this on the porch has brought a modern design element to the entry. It's sturdy clean design and bronze color is a near perfect match to the Kichler can light I'd previously installed.
I took a risk ordering this online, being unsure of how it'd work out. I normally like to inspect major purchases before buying them. But for the price of this purchase in comparison to other sites that were selling it for $80+, I thought I'd take a chance, and I'm glad I did.

We really like our mailbox (our mailpersons do, also). We looked for mailboxes at various places before checking Amazon.com. This mailbox was less expensive and far better than all of the ones we looked at.

PROS:
Mailbox looks good & is built sturdy, No leaks. Lock is secure and mailbox can be mounted to wall with either 2 or fall screws for security.
Mail flap opens fully.

CONS: mailbox does not come in a left and right side open version.


BOTTOM LINE: I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ITEM TO A FRIEND
