I agree that these puzzles (and the other similar ones from Melissa & Doug) are colorful and cute. In general, we love M&D toys -- good value and very durable. My daughter does like these puzzles but be forwarned. I have two issues with them. First, there is NO picture guide, which can be really frustrating for little children. Even adult puzzles at least have a picture on the box to serve as reference! I expected a picture under the puzzle, but the tray is blank. You may want to photocopy the puzzle so little ones have a guide. Also, when we first opened the puzzles, the pieces were not completely cut through, so on several pieces, the paper separated from the wooden backing, and we had to glue the paper & wood back together. A little disappointing for a new toy...
Perfect gift for our 4 year old! December 28, 2008 James A. Bunch (Central Illinois)
Great item. Bright colors and fun pictures. A firm wooden tray for the pieces to be assembled is a nice touch. Putting regular puzzles together on carpet is frustrating for kids, having something solid to put them together on is very helpful. The only problem is the initial tearing apart of the pieces. The puzzle pieces must be broken apart before the first use. Our kids "helped" take it apart and chipped a few pieces. The pieces are very thick and sturdy otherwise. Will easily last for years if taken care of. This company is recommended for their safety first attitude. Their products do not contain the harmful things that other companies use, ex: lead, melamine, chemicals, harmful treated woods, etc. Always choose Melissa and Doug's first for healthy kids!
Great way to occupy! October 10, 2008 A. Niendorf
I am very amazed that my 3 year old daughter can do these puzzles. We started with the 48 piece barn floor puzzle and the third time we worked on it, she did it herself. So I pulled out these puzzles and after showing her the edge pieces to start with, she mastered them alone. She did not get frustrated even though there is no picture to use as a reference. These puzzles are such a great price too! Unbeatable value in a toy!
Great Puzzles August 25, 2008 M. Allred (Salt Lake City, UT)
These two puzzles are awesome. We bought them for my 4-year-old son before a family vacation, hoping it would keep him occupied while at the cabin. He loves puzzles, and was very excited when he saw these. They are well made wooden puzzles. Very colorful and fun to do. I would recommend these to any parent who needs fun, well made puzzles that will last for a long time.
Beautiful and perfect for first time puzzlers! August 23, 2008 E. Tvedten (Skjetten, NORWAY)
These were really nice puzzles, although one became slightly warped (we live near the sea). The pictures are very bright and beautiful and there are many things to talk about with your small child. Great learning toy!
