Album Description "A daydream wrapped up in an existential crisis wrapped up in the perfect summer melody." -- SF Chronicle "A marriage of sour memories and sunny melodies." -- RollingStone.com "The best one-man-and-guitar performer there is." -- Erland Oye, Kings of Convenience "Unguarded snatches of pop bliss, bald-faced, tender, and delivered winningly by Davenport." -- SF Bay Guardian You may have seen West Coast rock institution Bart Davenport fronting Quannum Records electro future-funk trio called Honeycut, or heard their song "Exodus Honey" in a recent iMac ad. Davenport is a singer-songwriter troubadour who wears his passionate love of West Coast pop on his sleeve. His songs have captivated audiences worldwide for years, dating back to his time as a front man for Oakland garage/ blues combo The Loved Ones. On Palaces, his fourth solo album and third for Oakland indie Antenna Farm, Davenport collaborates with kindred spirit Kelley Stoltz to deliver a work befitting an artist who has assimilated the influences of a lifetime's worth of music-making. The album also features stellar contributions from some of the Bay Area's top musicians, including Stoltz, Angelina Moysov (Persephone's Bees), and Tony Sevener & Herve Salters (Honeycut). Drawing from Brit folk, bossa nova, and even a touch of Philly soul, Davenport's rich, nuanced vocals capture a cohesive fusion of traditional and indie pop, with lyrics that sparkle with plainspoken poetry and offer telling insights into the minds and hearts of his subjects.

| Customer Reviews Top Shelf, Again! December 27, 2008 Phillip E. Monares (San Francisco, CA United States)
As with all of Bart's releases, you get the sense that he is in tune with what one needs to hear. The signature piece is "A Young One". A Philly-Soul inspired effort, it truly displays Bart's vocal prowess. Soulful to the bone. It is so melodic and soothing, Circuit City samples it for their latest TV spots. Clearly they have heard what the critics have raved about.
