I BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE I LIKE QUALITY AND THIS HAS IT. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS BEFORE MAKING MY DECISION. JUST AS I THOUGHT MOST ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS OR PROBLEMS ARE BECAUSE OF BAD INSTRUCTION MANUAL. YOU MIGHT AS WELL THROW THIS MANUAL OUT THE WINDOW. SEVERAL OF THE PROBLEMS I READ ABOUT HAPPENED TO ME ALMOST IMMEDIATLY. THE SKIPING OR JUMPING OF CHANNELS WHEN SWITCHING CHANNELS IS DUE TO A VERY SENSITIVE KEYPAD ON THE REMOTE. ONCE I RECONIZED THIS AND PUSH THE BUTTONS WITH A LIGHT TOUCH THE PROBLEM WAS AND IS SOLVED WORKS GREAT IF YOU TOUCH LIGHT AND DONT LET YOUR FINGER LINGER ON THE KEY. THE MANUAL IF YOU FOLLOW INITIAL SET UP INSTRUCTIONS YOU WONT GET PAST STEP 4, UNLESS YOU GO TO THE TROUBLE SHOOTING SECTION, WHICH WILL TELL YOU TO HOLD FUNCTIONS BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE NEXT MENUE WILL APPEAR. THIS HAS TO BE DONE TO SELECT RF CHANNEL 3 OR 4 OR OFF WHICH WILL THEN ALLOW YOU TO PROCEED IN FINISHING SET UP PROCEDURES. THIS UNIT HAS A DIGITAL TUNER WHICH IS GREAT BECAUSE MY TV NOW GETS ALL DIGITAL CHANNELS INCLUDING SUB CHANNELS. PICTURE QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. I HAVE NOT RECORDED YET BUT I DONT EXPECT ANY PROBLEMS. YOU NEED TO BE TECH SAVY TO USE ALL THE FEATURES OF THIS MACHINE. BUT WHAT A MACHINE IT IS WHEN YOU FINALY FIGURE IT ALL OUT. I LOVE THIS MACHINE.

Before you buy any Panasonic products think again.... I purchased a DVD Recorder and within 10 months of usage the unit broke down and corrupted 5 DVD's. When I called Panasonic customer service they blamed the type of DVD I was using which is DVD -R. But that is within product spec. Changing DVD type did not work either. Panasonic also updated my Firmware which also did not work. Customer service IQ is in the single digit and are rude and will not help you once you have the product barely 12 months even though the problems started before the warranty expired. PANASONIC products are inferior to other electronics and their customer service is even worse. My recommendation is to steer clear from this company which is without conscience and ethics. Panasonic electronic products are designed to serve you a year or less only.

The unit works good & pretty easy to setup. One small thing that I personally don't like about the unit is the clock on the front of the unit doesn't display the time if the unit is on, It will only display the time if the unit is off. I e-mail Panasonic & they confirmed this to be correct.

Wasn't quite as east to setup as literature suggested, naturally, but everything seems to work OK and it does communicate with TV. Upconversions work just fine. well worth the monies.

Easy to use. Just wish it had a program guide so i would not have to spend time selecting the date, time, and creating a title for each program I wish to record. At least the selection of date and time is pretty easy. Worth the money.
