Don't know how it works yet because of lousy installation instructions. Still have not put it together because I'm afraid to break something in attempting to insert the batteries. I would not recommend this product until better installation instructions are included.

I bought this exact fan at a Wal-Mart years ago for camping. It takes 6 D cell batteries and is pretty good on battery usage. I think I used it 4-5 nights solid on 1 set of batteries. The light is also quite bright and good at illuminating a big area. It has a handle and the angle of it is adjustable so all in all, does what it says. Its great at being both a fan and a light - 2 things you need badly in some areas when you lose power.

I had this stored along with my camping gear for about 1-2 years and then Hurricane Ike hit the gulf coast. Not only did this fan still work but it had some life left in the batteries! So really I consider it a great value. Its a simple device, it has a light and a 2 speed fan setting.

Now something to know about battery operated fans - don't expect a Vornado. These fans are pretty much personal use only. If you are camping or in a power outage and its hot, best advice is to prop this baby up on a bed side table right next to you as close as you can get it - I mean close like less than a foot away or closer and angle it to cover you as much as you can.

My family was literally fighting over this baby during the loss of power in the hurricane so if you think you need 2, get 2 - you can try to use it to cover 2 people but the wind output really isn't powerful enough.
