While the top layer is soft and nicely quilted for comfort, the bottom layer is made of vinyl and has a very strong odor of plastic. Hopefully, with repeated washings this will dissolve if not, I can't have my newborn sleeping and breathing in plastic fumes so I will have to return this product.

I wish I had known about this with my 1st child. It's a great quality pad. Comfy and washes well.

The dimensions for mattress pad cover read;

"15.8 x 12.7 x 4.9 inches, mattress pad cover"

When an average crib mattress itself is;

"52.5 x 28 x 6 inches"

How does it fit correctly?

I like it, very good, my son sleeps a lot better on it, very soft!!!!!

This pad fits the crib mattress perfectly and doesn't slide off the corners or bunch up. It always looks and feels perfectly smooth. There is no leaking through, no matter how wet it gets. It launders well, time and time again. It is a great product. I wish they made one in king-sized. :-)
